How to resize a photo for an online form
If a form rejects your photo, first read the exact message beside the upload field. It may be asking for dimensions, a file type, a maximum file size, or a particular shape. Those are different fixes.
Choose the tool from the form’s wording

Use this order when the form gives two limits
- Crop or fit the image if its shape does not match the form.
- Resize it to the exact width and height if those are specified.
- Compress the finished image if the form also gives a maximum KB or MB.
Resizing and cropping change the image itself. Compression changes the file size, so it is usually easier to check the final file-size limit after the dimensions are correct.
Avoid the common rejection mistakes
- Do not type a KB limit into a pixel-dimension field.
- Do not stretch a rectangular photo into a different shape.
- Check the output format if the form accepts only JPG, PNG, or another named type.
- Open the exported file once before uploading it again.
