What happens when you invert image colors?
Color inversion reverses the image values so light areas become dark, dark areas become light, and colors shift toward their inverse values. The result often resembles a photographic negative, especially on ordinary photos.
Inverting is different from recoloring
Invert changes the entire image. You cannot select one object or color to change on its own.
Limitations
- Invert reverses all colors uniformly and does not selectively preserve skin tones or individual colors.
Questions
What does it mean to invert image colors?
Inverting reverses the image values so light becomes dark, dark becomes light, and colors shift toward their inverse values.
Is an inverted image the same as a negative?
The visual effect often resembles a photographic negative because the light-dark and color values are reversed.
Is inverting the same as recoloring an object?
No. Invert affects the whole image. It does not selectively replace one chosen color or recolor one object.
Does the invert preview change my original file?
No. The original file on your device is not replaced by the preview. A new file is created when you export.
Which formats can I download after inverting?
You can export the inverted result as PNG, JPG, or WebP.
Is image inversion processed locally?
Yes. The selected image and invert effect are processed in your browser.
