Cut out a clear subject

The tool finds a prominent subject automatically. You cannot select individual objects or choose a color to erase. Portraits, pets, and single products may work well; crowded scenes, glass, and fine hair can need manual touch-up.

Blurry photos and subjects that blend into the background are harder to cut out. Check the edges before downloading.

Save a transparent PNG

The PNG has a transparent background, so you can place it over another image in a design or presentation. This tool doesn't add a new background. JPG doesn't support transparency.

Choose a static JPG, PNG, or WebP photo under 10 MB and 8 megapixels. The free preview has a maximum 900-pixel edge. Premium HD keeps your accepted photo’s original dimensions.

Limitations

  • The subject needs to stand out from the background. Glass, wispy hair, overlapping subjects, and busy scenes can have uneven edges or lose detail.
  • Hair and blurred edges may keep parts of the background. Check the preview before downloading.
  • The tool accepts static JPG, PNG, and WebP files and exports PNG. Animated GIFs and batch processing are not supported.
  • Static JPG, PNG, and WebP images up to 10 MB and 8 megapixels are supported. The free preview is resized to a maximum 900-pixel edge; Premium HD preserves the accepted source dimensions.

How do I remove the background from an image?

Choose a photo, click Proceed, and check the result. Download the transparent PNG when you're happy with it.

Can I remove a white background or cut out a product photo?

Yes. The tool automatically finds the main subject. You cannot choose an object or a color to erase, and crowded scenes may not produce a useful cutout.

Is this background remover free?

You can create and download a resized preview for free. An account with Premium access is required for the original-size HD result.

Does iLoveIMG upload my photo to remove the background?

Can I remove the background from a GIF?

No. This tool processes still JPG, PNG, and WebP images and exports a PNG; animated GIFs are not supported.
