Getting started

What can I do with iLoveIMG?

You can resize, crop, compress, convert, rotate, flip, adjust, and filter images. Use a focused tool for one task or the image editor to combine several edits.

Open the image editor
Is iLoveIMG free to use?

The image tools on this website are free to use. You can choose an image, edit it, and download the result without creating an account.

Browse all tools
Do I need to install anything?

No. Open the website in a modern browser and choose an image from your device. Processing happens in the browser.

Choose a tool
Can I use the site on my phone?

Yes. You can select an image from your phone and use the tools in its browser. Large images may take longer or use more memory on mobile devices.

Edit a photo
Which tool should I start with?

Choose Resize for pixel dimensions, Crop for framing, Compress for a file-size limit, or Convert for a different file format. Use the editor when you need several changes.

Find your tool
Can I make several changes to the same image?

Yes. The editor combines supported edits in one session. If you use separate tools, download the result and open it in the next tool. Keep your original so you can start over.

Resizing and cropping

How do I resize an image?

Open Resize Image, choose your image, enter the width and height in pixels, select how it should fit, and download the result.

Resize an image
What is the difference between resizing and cropping?

Resizing changes pixel dimensions. Cropping removes part of the picture to change its framing or aspect ratio. You may need both when preparing an image for a form or social post.

Read crop vs resize
Can I resize an image without losing quality?

Making an image smaller usually keeps it useful, but resampling changes its pixels. Enlarging cannot recover detail missing from the original. Check the preview and avoid repeatedly saving in a lossy format.

Open Resize Image
How do I keep an image from looking stretched?

Keep the original proportions, or choose Fit or Crop when setting a different shape. Stretch fills the requested dimensions by changing proportions and can distort the image.

Choose a resize mode
Can I make a photo square without cropping it?

Yes. The square tool has a Fit option that keeps the whole photo and adds space around it. Crop fills the square by trimming the edges.

Make a photo square
What does aspect ratio mean?

Aspect ratio describes the relationship between width and height. For example, a square is 1:1. Different pixel sizes can share the same ratio.

How do I prepare an image for an upload form?

Check the form’s required format, pixel dimensions, and file-size limit. Resize first, then compress if needed. Check the final file because strong compression may also reduce its dimensions.

Compression and file size

How do I reduce an image’s file size?

Open Compress Image, choose the image, set a target file size, and download the result. The tool adjusts compression and can reduce pixel dimensions when needed to reach a small limit.

Compress an image
Will compression change how my image looks?

It can. JPEG and WebP compression may remove visual detail, especially with a small file-size target. Compare the preview and use a larger limit if the result looks too soft.

Choose a file-size target
Are pixel dimensions and file size the same thing?

No. Dimensions measure width and height in pixels; file size measures storage in bytes, KB, or MB. Images with the same dimensions can have different file sizes.

Change pixel dimensions
Why can’t my image reach the file-size limit I want?

Some limits are too small for the image’s detail or dimensions. Try a larger limit or smaller dimensions. The compressor reports when it cannot meet a target.

Adjust compression
Which formats does the compressor export?

The target-size compressor exports JPEG or WebP. It can open PNG images, but it does not export PNG to a target file size. JPEG replaces transparent areas with a white background.

Open the compressor
Should I resize or compress first?

Resize first when the destination requires specific dimensions. Then compress the resized image if there is also a file-size limit, and inspect the final dimensions before uploading it.

Formats and downloads

Which image formats can I use?

The editor can open common formats that your browser can decode. Individual tools may accept a narrower set, shown beside their image selector. JPG, PNG, and WebP are the main supported export formats.

Open the converter
How do I convert an image to another format?

Open Convert Image, select a JPG, PNG, or WebP file, choose the output format, and convert it. Download the converted file once it is ready.

Convert an image
Should I choose JPG, PNG, or WebP?

JPG is widely accepted for photographs. PNG is useful when you need transparent pixels or a lossless output. WebP can offer smaller files and transparency, but check that the destination accepts it.

Choose an image format
Can I keep a transparent background?

Use PNG or supported WebP output. JPG does not support transparency, so transparent pixels need a background color. Check the chosen tool’s export options before downloading.

Review conversion options
Will converting to PNG improve a blurry image?

No. Changing the format cannot restore detail already lost through compression or a low-resolution source. Start from the best original available.

Convert the original
Where does the downloaded image go?

Your browser saves it using its download settings. On a computer, check Downloads or the browser’s download list. On a phone, check the browser downloads or Files app.

Get help
Does editing replace my original file?

The tools create a separate download. They do not overwrite the image you selected. Keep the original file until you are happy with the exported result.

Privacy and support

Are my images uploaded to a server?

Images selected in the website’s browser tools are processed locally. The optional ChatGPT MCP connection is a separate server-backed workflow with different handling, explained in the privacy policy.

Read the privacy policy
Do you store my photos?

The browser tools do not send your selected image to an iLoveIMG image-processing server or provide account-based cloud storage. The separate ChatGPT MCP workflow stages transformed results temporarily.

Read the processing details
Does local processing mean there is no analytics?

No. Product analytics, when configured, are separate from image processing. Image files and image contents are not included as analytics event properties. See the privacy policy for details.

Troubleshooting

Why won’t my image open?

Check the formats accepted by the tool. A file may be damaged, unsupported by the browser, or too large for the available memory. Try a smaller image or a JPG, PNG, or WebP copy.

Get help opening an image
Why is editing slow or the browser tab closing?

Large pixel dimensions use substantial memory while decoding and editing. Close unused tabs, try a smaller source image, or use a device with more memory.

Resize a smaller image
Why does the exported image look different?

The output format, quality, dimensions, transparency, and browser encoding can affect the result. Compare the preview with the export, check your settings, and use the original when retrying.

Review your edit
Why is WebP export unavailable?

WebP export depends on the browser’s encoder support. If the tool says your browser cannot create WebP, choose PNG or JPG where offered, or try a current browser.

Choose another output format
Why was my image rejected after I edited it?

A destination can enforce its own format, exact dimensions, byte limit, or photo rules. Check the downloaded file against all requirements. A successful edit does not guarantee acceptance by another site.
