How to invert image colors on iPhone

By Sekora Studios · Updated

Invert image colors on iPhone by opening the image inverter in your browser and downloading the edited picture. Inversion reverses colors across the image and also reverses light and dark values.

Is this the same as changing the iPhone display?

A display setting changes how content looks on the screen. Editing and exporting the image creates a new file that carries the inverted colors when someone else opens it. Use the exported image when you want the effect to appear in a message or post.

The tool changes the whole image. It does not isolate a background, replace one selected color or leave faces unchanged.

How does inversion differ from grayscale?

Grayscale removes color while retaining a range of dark and light values. Inversion reverses the values: a white area becomes black, and a black area becomes white. Colors change to their opposites.

Inversion can create a negative-style effect. It does not handle every step needed to scan a film negative. A scan can need further color and exposure corrections, particularly when the source has a colored film base.

What if the result looks washed out?

Set the Invert control to its maximum for full inversion. Also compare the original: inversion cannot recover detail from a solid black or solid white region. Choose PNG when you want to avoid a further lossy export.

More questions

Can I invert just the background?

This tool applies inversion across the complete image. It has no subject mask for changing only the background.

Will the original file change?

Download the edited result as a separate file and keep your source copy for later edits.
